Former BlackRock executive joins LGIM as global operating chief

Brenda Sklar joins LGIM after previously working as head of global client services and global COO of business operations at BlackRock. 

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has hired BlackRock’s global COO of business operations as the firm’s global operating chief.

Brenda Sklar is set to join LGIM as global chief operating officer on 11 May, after a long career with BlackRock where she served in various senior roles. Most recently, Sklar was head of global client services and global operating chief of business operations at BlackRock.

“I am excited to be joining LGIM at this critical point as we help our clients through these unprecedented times. This role gives me the opportunity to leverage my experience in driving transformation, improving the client experience, delivering operational excellence and shaping great teams,” Sklar commented.

Sklar will be based in Chicago and will report directly to LGIM chief executive, Michelle Scrimgeour, who added that with 20 years’ experience in asset management and a strong track record in operations will be invaluable to LGIM.

“Brenda brings with her extensive experience in leading teams across diverse client and business functions. She has demonstrated an ability to lead infrastructure development and services at scale, across global markets,” Scrimgeour said.

Scrimgeour was appointed chief executive at LGIM in February last year. She was the former chief executive for EMEA and APAC at Columbia Threadneedle, and also spent five years with M&G Global as chief risk officer.
