Former Seaport Global Holdings equity sales trader joins Newton Investment Management Group

New hire joins Newton as a multi-asset trader, having previously held trading positions at Seaport Global Holdings, Amber Capital and Exane.

Newton Investment Management Group has appointed Sachit Shah as a new multi asset trader for the firm.

Shah joins from Seaport Global Holdings, where he served as an equity sales trader for nearly one year.

Prior to that, he spent just over five years at Amber Capital as a trader, responsible for a range of investment strategies including long/short, long only and activist.

In addition, Shah has held various trading positions at Exane, Value Partners, The Cambodia Project and ABN Amro.

Shah announced his appointment in a social media post, stating: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as multi asset trader at Newton Investment Management Group.”

Newton had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publishing.

Earlier this year, buy-side veteran Jason Reeve joined Newton in an unconfirmed title after previously spending 21 years as a partner and head of trading at shuttered hedge fund Sloane Robinson.

The hedge fund ceased operations at the end of 2020 after seeing a significant decline in assets under management, magnified by the pandemic and a subsequent slowdown in emerging market economies.
