FIX Protocol Limited (FPL), the developer of the FIX financial messaging standard, has appointed Zoltan Feledy, a buy-side trader from State Street Global Advisors, as co-chair of the FPL Asia-Pacific regional committee.

Feledy will replace outgoing co-chair George Molina, head of Asian trading at Franklin Templeton Investments, and work closely with fellow co-chair Chris Jenkins, managing director at electronic trading solutions provider Tora Trading.

In his FPL role, Feledy will lead efforts to raise awareness of FIX’s benefits as a driver for increased electronic trading in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before assuming his current position as an Asian emerging markets trader at State Street Global Advisors in Hong Kong, Feledy managed the firm’s FIX connectivity globally and implemented several technology initiatives in the Americas, Europe and Asia to improve the firm’s electronic trading capabilities. He has also been involved with the FPL Asia Pacific Regional Committee and was a member of the FPL Algorithmic Trading Working Group’s technical subcommittee.

“As an emerging markets trader, I am keenly aware of the benefits that increased use of the FIX Protocol family of standards could contribute to electronic trading in Asia by increasing efficiency, reducing error rates and thereby providing significant cost savings, especially for the region’s emerging markets,” said Feledy in a statement. “There are a number of important initiatives underway locally that I hope to contribute to, including the newly formed Asia-Pacific Buy-side Working Group.”
