Franklin Templeton Investments (FTI) has promoted Bill Stephenson to head of global trading following an internal reshuffle.
Stephenson was formerly FTI’s director of global trading strategy where he was responsible for the firm’s trading technology, policies, administration and reporting.
He replaces Mat Gulley in his new role. Gulley has taken on an expanded role as head of investment management strategic services, where he will have oversight of the firm’s global trading, performance analysis and investment risk.
Stephenson joined FTI’s global equity trading desk in 1997 and is the founder of the AIR Summit, an annual industry event held in Florida focused on emerging and innovative technologies for asset managers.
In 2013 he received The TRADE award for Buy-side Project of the Year for his work in developing the firm’s Investment Dashboard technology.
Gulley has been with FTI since 1996 working across a number of trading and investment roles and is co-head of the firm’s Ft. Lauderdale office. He began his career in 1988 developing trading systems to trade futures and options at Bridge Information Systems.
