Electronic trading and agency-only brokerage firm Instinet has announced the introduction of US-listed futures and options functionality on its Newport 3 execution management system (EMS).

Futures capabilities have just been added, while options have been available for trading on Newport 3 for four months.

The addition of options and futures trading tools on Newport 3 builds on the recent launch of Instinet's Options CBX dark pool at the beginning of August and the introduction of US-listed options trading functionality within its algorithmic trading suite and smart order routing technology suite. Instinet has been expanding its options trading functionality following the firm's acquisition of derivatives trading company TORC Financial in 2009.

“With changes in derivatives markets roughly echoing the equity markets' recent evolution, the ability to navigate multiple asset classes through a single front end is increasingly important to the institutional trading community,” said Jon Zanoff, global head of EMS strategy at Instinet. “With the addition of native multi-asset functionality to Newport 3, we feel that the platform becomes an extremely compelling solution to an even broader range of buy- or sell-side trading desks.”
