Investit, the specialist investment management consultancy, has opened an office at the Dubai International Financial Centre, its first in the Middle East / North Africa (MENA) region.

Established in 1998, Investit already advises investment management firms, custodians, administrators and service providers from its London and Sydney offices.

Catherine Doherty, a co-founder of the firm, has been appointed regional CEO, MENA. “We have been working for well-established investment management organisations in the Gulf Cooperation Council since 2003. We are impressed by the ambition in the region to build profitable businesses founded on sound products and operational practices. We feel our experience of working for more than 140 different global and local management firms will be applicable here.”

Richard Phillipson, previously principal, investment practice, at Investit, takes the role of director of institutional consulting, while Ehab El Sawy joins the firm as regional director. El Sawy has eleven years of experience of banking and investment management, of which the past five were spent in the region.

“The team we can call on locally and bring in from London and Sydney means we can cover every aspect of our clients’ business; we work from product design through to pricing a fund,” said Phillipson. “CEOs are looking at how they can quickly bring their businesses to maturity with a platform that will deliver economies of scale and growing profitability.”
