US-based investment bank Jefferies has added four new members to its equities team in Asia as the firm continues to ramp up its capabilities in the region.

Marcus Okuno joins Jefferies as a managing director in equity sales in Tokyo, having most recently held a similar position at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he has worked for 13 years. Okuno has also worked at Robertson Stephens and Salomon Smith Barney.

Chua Lee Leng will take up the role of managing director for equity sales and trading in Singapore, joining from UBS where she was executive director for regional equity sales. Chua has also held positions at HSBC, where she was head of equity sales, and at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and Australia.

Conor O'Mara, previously a fund manager at Balyasny Asset Management and founder of HSBC's Global Technology Alpha fund, joins Jeffries as managing director for equity sales and trading in Hong Kong. O'Mara was also co-founder of Arete Research, an independent European research broker.

Meanwhile Lisa Lau takes the role of managing director and co-head of Hong Kong and China sales trading. Lau, who joins from China International Capital, will be based in Hong Kong. She has also worked in trading roles at Société Générale and Paribas.

“The addition of these senior professionals is another step in the continued expansion of our global equities platform into Asia, a region which is incredibly important to our business,” said Jason Griffith, global head of equities at Jefferies.
