The Johannesburg Stock Exchange has appointed Donna Oosthuyse, formerly of Citi South Africa, as its director of capital markets.

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has appointed Donna Oosthuyse, formerly of Citi South Africa, as its director of capital markets.

Oosthuyse’s tenure at Citi South Africa stretches back almost 20 years, where she was originally charged with re-establishing Citi’s presence in the African country.

Oosthuyse was most recently managing director and chief country officer at the bank.

"I am thrilled that the JSE has been able to attract someone of Donna’s calibre and experience to head a critical, client facing aspect of our business,” said Nicky Newton-King, CEO of the JSE.

“Our business is driven by providing products and services that our clients value and I fully expect that, coming as she does from a major client, Donna will be able to help the JSE respond to issuer and investor needs in a manner we have not yet been fully able to realise."

Oosthuyse has also held the position of president of the American Chamber of Commerce and the chairman of the International Bankers Association in South Africa.

“After a long and immensely satisfying career at Citi, I am excited about the opportunity to work with such a passionate and talented team and look forward to the contribution I can make in an organisation of such broad market, economic and social impact,” she said.
