Kx Systems partners with DEVnet for risk management and trading

Database specialist firm Kx Systems has formed a strategic sales partnership with DEVnet, a risk management and trading systems consultancy. Under the collaboration, DEVnet will market Kx's database kdb+ and q, its programming language, across continental Europe.

DEVnet typically services financial institutions, corporates and utilities. Working with Kx Systems, DEVnet will provide sales, support and consultancy for kdb+ in analytics for real-time risk and complex event processing infrastructures, business intelligence in high volume trading, enterprise-wide solutions for market data management, pricing of derivatives and structured products, real time scenario analysis and aggregation and market-making infrastructures.

“Kx's kdb+ is the fastest and the most flexible system for processing vast quantities of data,” said Andreas Kokott, CEO of DEVnet. “Its ability to store any amount of data at a reasonable cost is key to many challenges facing financial institutions and utilities companies in the areas of trading, risk and regulatory compliance.”

Asset Control simplifies setup for data processing

Financial data management solutions and service provider Asset Control has improved its AC Plus data management platform by launching an on-demand instrument setup module. The AC Plus Collection Service is designed to help customers simplify and improve data accuracy in the setup process.

It is also intended to help customers better align and tailor their global market and reference data consumption. The optional data collection module augments AC Plus' vendor management processes by allowing users to request specific instrument data on demand with providers including SIX Telekurs' Valordata Feed and others.

The AC Plus Collection Service gives firms the ability to purchase and receive only the specific data they require. It also lets customers create instruments using web services provided within AC Plus. Data can be requested directly from suppliers. “AC Plus' Collection Service helps to simplify data management operations for the business user and enables a direct, interactive relationship between data providers and their customers,” said Phil Lynch, CEO of Asset Control.

Canada's Recce opts for Corvil latency monitoring

Canadian technology consulting firm Recce has deployed a latency management system from specialist provider Corvil as a managed service for a tier one unnamed Canadian bank.

CorvilNet is used to monitor the performance of the bank's entire trading infrastructure, including network latency, market data quality and order response latency. The service has already been deployed in the main Canadian trading co-location centres and in the bank's data centres to monitor order transaction flows, market data feeds and network speed and performance.

In choosing Corvil for their client, Recce highlighted as selling points its visibility into the network and message layers, scalability and real-time monitoring for order response latency and market data feed quality. “Dealing with the challenges of managing increasingly complex trading infrastructures alongside other business initiatives is not getting any simpler or less time consuming,” said Scott Martin, CEO of Recce. “By implementing and managing the CorvilNet solution, our client's technology group can remain focused on supporting the business.”
