Bursa Malaysia has teamed up with global data vendor Thomson Reuters to develop a new data distribution platform to support the exchange’s growing trading business.

Under the deal, the exchange will implement Thomson Reuters’ enterprise platform, which is designed for high-performance information management and real-time market data dissemination.

The offering combines the latest versions of Thomson Reuters Market Data System and direct feed technology, which will enable Bursa Malaysia to integrate its incoming data feeds and distribute them to its members. Thomson Reuters believes its solution will give market participants unparalleled performance for price discovery, transparency and price improvement.

According to Bursa Malaysia, the decision to use Thomson Reuters was based on the performance and scalability of the vendor’s solutions.

“As our market grows bigger and more sophisticated, there is greater need to ensure that our data distribution platform caters to the changing landscape,” said Lim Jit Jee, chief information officer, Bursa Malaysia, in a statement. “This new market data gateway from Thomson Reuters will be beneficial to our customers as it allows the exchange to package market data according to their needs, as well as ensure that information is distributed in an expedient manner.”
