Newedge hires ex-SocGen CFO

Brokerage firm Newedge has appointed Francoise Guillaume as global chief operating officer and deputy CEO. Based in Paris, Guillaume will also participate as a member of the Newedge executive committee.

Brokerage firm Newedge has appointed Francoise Guillaume as global chief operating officer and deputy CEO. Based in Paris, Guillaume will also participate as a member of the Newedge executive committee.

At Newedge, the IT, operations, e-solutions, human resources, finance, risk and sales facilitation divisions will report directly to Guillaume. She will be responsible for aligning and coordinating these groups with the firm's goals. The new position is intended to help consolidate Newedge's support and control functions.

Guillaume joins from Societe Generale, where she has worked in various leadership roles for some 20 years, most recently service as chief financial officer for the firm's group management resources. Previously, she worked as managing director of short-term rates for Societe Generale Asset Management and deputy director of fixed income and money market.

“As we continue to develop our four business lines, it is essential for us to maintain and build our competitive advantage through flawless execution in all of our support and control teams, especially from a technology and regulatory standpoint,” said Nicolas Breteau, CEO. “Francoise's appointment will help us achieve this objective.”

Founded in January 2008, Paris-based Newedge is a 50/50 joint venture between Societe Generale and Credit Agricole CIB.

Newedge partnered with trading technology provider Orc Software to provide a direct communications link between Chicago and Newedge's Hong Kong-based trading data centre, allowing US traders to trade Asian markets without establishing their own lines and connections, in March 2011.
