Nomura appoints global head of execution and equity trading

Global investment bank Nomura has appointed Todd Sandoz as global head of execution services and equity trading.

Global investment bank Nomura has appointed Todd Sandoz as global head of execution services and equity trading.

He will oversee equity execution services, including Instinet, prime services, electronic trading, futures and options and OTC clearing and will report to Steve Ashley, head of global markets and Naoki Matsuba, co-head of global markets. He will be based in London.

This is the first time Nomura has concentrated all of these responsibilities in one global role. Prior to Sandoz, Michelle Neal was responsible for electronic markets, prime services and OTC clearing, but left last year, while equity execution was concentrated within Nomura’s Instinet subsidiary.

Sandoz joins from a 17-year stint at Credit Suisse, where most recently he held the position of head of global foreign exchange and short-term interest rates trading in London. He also worked as global head of cash equity trading and execution and co-head of Americas, equities, for the Swiss bank. He began his career as a convertible bond trader at Citadel in 1993.

Speaking of the appointment, Steve Ashley said Sandoz would provide clients with seamless execution and a truly cross-asset offering in the global role.

“Todd brings a wealth of expertise and market insight to our global markets franchise,” he said. “He will play a crucial leadership role in harnessing our strengths across our equity business, building on our core strengths of client focus with disciplined risk management, as well as maximising our presence at the centre of east-west flows.”
