Shares in NYSE Euronext, the holding company created by the merger of the New York Stock Exchange and European stock exchange Euronext, started trading today in Paris and New York under the ticker symbol NYX.

The merger brought together six cash equities exchanges in five countries and six derivatives exchanges. Companies listed on the exchanges represent $28.5 trillion of market capitalisation, and the average daily trading value of NYSE Euronext’s combined markets is $102 billion as of February 28 2007.
