BNY 
BNY has appointed Gary Hughes as an equity sales trader, based in Dublin.
Hughes joins the firm from Comgest, where he spent around a decade, most recently as a trader.
He initially joined Comgest in 2016 in a middle office position.
In his new role, Hughes will sit within BNY’s European fixed income and equities trading team, covering both equities and fixed income products.
Earlier in his career, he also spent three years working at State Street.
APG Asset Management
Christos Saltapidas has been appointed quantitative fixed income trader at APG Asset Management after 6 years with the firm.
APG Asset Management confirmed the appointment to The TRADE. Saltapidas will be based in Amsterdam in his new role, where he will focus on trading government bonds and interest rate derivatives.
He initially joined APG in 2020 as a junior asset management professional, with rotations across its quant, research and portfolio management departments.
The appointment follows four years as a systematic commodities portfolio manager and quant researcher at the firm, where he was responsible for managing APG’s internal systematic strategies portfolios.
Previously, Saltapidas also worked at NN Investment Partners.
APG Asset Management was shortlisted for Multi-Asset Trading Desk of the Year in 2024, andis in the running for Foreign Exchange Trading Desk of the Year at this year’s event.
GIC
Travis Ni has stepped up as global head of cross-asset trading at GIC, extendinga more than eight-year tenures at the firm.
New York-based Ni first joined GIC in 2018 as a trader, and has served as head of equities trading, Americas since June 2024 – a role he will keep alongside his new responsibilities.
Before GIC, he spent two and a half years at Goldman Sachs as a vice president within Goldman Sachs Electronic Trading (GSET).
Earlier in his career, Ni spent two and a half years at Citi as a quantitative trading analyst, focusing on algorithmic mortgage pricing and US equity algorithmic trading.
