People Moves Monday: SIX, Optiver and Kepler Cheuvreux

New positions across the past week include an exchange head of clearing, as well as two hires to support the growth of US institutional ETF trading, and a sell-side algo trader appointment.

SIX

SIX has named Michael Gort as head of clearing, set to oversee the development and ongoing “transformation” of the business.

Gort joined SIX in 2017 and has worked in various senior roles across the clearing business, including senior product manager, head of product and business development for clearing products.

“Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping and driving our clearing strategy […] His leadership, industry knowledge and client-focused mindset will be key as we continue to develop and strengthen our clearing business,” said SIX in an official announcement.

The move supports the continual evolution of SIX’s clearing business as part of its “future pan-European, interoperable and multi-asset CCP”.

Optiver

Optiver has strengthened its US institutional ETF trading offering with two new additions, as demand grows across the market.

Specifically, the firm has appointed Brett Sussman and Caitlin Krantz to its US-based team, joining as head of US institutional ETF sales trading and as a US ETF sales trader, respectively.

Both Sussman and Krantz’s additions are set to support counterparties looking to connect to Optiver’s global liquidity, market knowledge and execution capabilities across the ETF landscape.

New York-based Sussman joins the firm after almost nine years at Flow Traders, where he initially began as an institutional trader, before stepping up as head of institutional sales and trading, Americas, seven years later.

Prior to this, he held various roles at Citi, working across equity derivatives, leverage credit and rates trading.

Meanwhile, Krantz joins Optiver after almost three years at multi-asset market maker, where she served as a sales trader spanning ETFs and ADRs.

She also gained early career experience at JP Morgan.

Kepler Cheuvreux

Kepler Cheuvreux has made a new addition to its KCx team, appointing Charles Beauchamp as an algo trader, based in Paris.

Beauchamp will report to Serge Reydellet, head of quant execution at Kepler Cheuvreux, and brings previous quantitative trading experience to his new position, supporting the firm’s development of its quantitative and algo trading offering.

Speaking to The TRADE, Chris McConville, global head of execution services and trading, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Charles Beauchamp to our firm. Based in our Paris office, he’ll play a key role in accelerating the growth of our algorithmic execution offering.”

He joins the firm from Swissquote, where he spent almost two years as a quantitative trader, working across eFX and digital assets.

Prior to this, Beauchamp also served at Societe Generale in Madrid, where he worked across delta one trading.
