Progress Software, a provider of application infrastructure software to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, has released the Progress Apama 3.0 platform. The platform enables organisations to transform event data into real-time business intelligence in applications for algorithmic trading applications, real-time fraud detection and compliance and real-time supply chains.

The Progress Apama platform is a complex event processing (CEP) system that allows users to monitor, detect and act on rapidly moving streams of events. It offers graphical Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) dashboards, a CEP correlation engine, and data stream management services (via an event data store) that together comprise a comprehensive platform for the creation, testing, deployment and management of event processing applications.

“The Progress Apama platform has the longevity and customer base that attest to its capabilities,” says Philip Howard, director, Bloor Research. The release of Apama 3.0 extends the firm’s architecture through inclusion of a new “Scenario API” that allows CEP applications to be deployed as services within an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) or controlled by external applications. The interface allows applications to discover and interact with complex event services.
