RBC Capital Markets bolsters North American equity sales trading desk with BNY hire

Addition brings previous equity sales trading experience to the role; previously spent five years at asset manager Polar Capital.

RBC Capital Markets has expanded its North American equity sales trading desk with the addition of Rory Priestley.

London-based Priestley joins the firm from BNY, where he spent over a year as a senior associate, covering equity sales trading.

Priestley also brings significant buy-side experience to his new position, and prior to his time at BNY, he spent five years at boutique asset manager, Polar Capital.

He initially joined the firm as an operation executive, a role he held for four years before stepping into a more senior position.

Priestley confirmed his new role in an announcement on social media.

RBC Capital Markets had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Priestley’s addition marks the latest hire for RBC Capital Markets, following the firm’s efforts to build out its footprint in the UK and Europe.

Specifically, Imad Frigui and Malcom Pratt both joined the firm’s European equities sales trading team in November 2025, with Frigui becoming head of Continental Europe cash equities sales trading, while Pratt joined as a director in EMEA high touch sales.
