Trading solutions provider RTS Realtime Systems Group is to offer low-latency data and news feeds and analytics from RavenPack to its automated and algorithmic trading clients.

Computer-readable news analytics designed by RavenPack, a New-York based specialist, can now be delivered to RTS clients within milliseconds of a news event, following the integration of RavenPack’s News Scores product with RTS’ RTD Tango algorithmic trading solution.

News analytics tools translate news stories and economic data releases into numbers or scores that are typically fed into quantitative models and trading programs.

RavenPack’s news ticker plant processes around 100,000 stories per day and generates analytics indicating sentiment and relevance of news items to 30,000 global stocks. In addition, RavenPack’s solutions can filter news feeds based on the potential impact of events such as bankruptcies, executive changes, mergers and acquisitions on equity price movements. Mainstream financial news and information providers such as ThomsonReuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones also offer solutions in the real-time news analytics space.

“We have seen a maturing of the marketplace for news analytics with more firms gaining an understanding of this rich source of alpha generating content. Once convinced of the value of the information, traders are looking for efficient ways to bring new algos and new content into production and to efficiently evolve and adapt their trading programmes,” said Don Williams, managing director of RavenPack.
