Agency broker Sanford C. Bernstein is offering access to its suite of algorithms, covering 24 European markets, via the SunGard Global Network (SGN) low-latency market data and order routing system.

Toby Bayliss, co-head of Sanford C. Bernstein's trading in Europe, said, “Connecting to the SunGard Global Network will extend our electronic execution services and our algorithm offering to a broader global audience.”

The 2,000 asset managers and 500 brokers which make up the SGN community will now have the ability to directly access to 15 of the 16 algorithms in the Bernstein algorithmic trading suite, including those specifically designed to source dark liquidity. The suite's anti-gaming logic comprises three key components: game theory, pattern recognition and adverse price movement.

Customisation can include filtering, which allows automatic selection of different algorithms and parameters based on the stock and market characteristics, and a multi-strategy switch that allows trading styles to be switched at various trigger points.

Raj Mahajan, president of SunGard's global trading business, said, “Trading in fragmented liquidity environments and high-frequency trading have amplified the need for algorithmic trading capabilities. SunGard can help firms connect with leading algorithmic solution providers and facilitate algo take-up.”
