Global fund manager Standard Life Investments has implemented version 8.2 of technology provider Charles River Development’s Investment Management System (IMS) and will use the system to trade a wider range of asset classes.

More than 120 users in Standard Life Investments’ Edinburgh, Boston and Montreal operations employ the Charles River IMS for trading, portfolio management and compliance across equity, fixed income and exchange-traded derivative instruments. The fund manager plans to go live on the system in the first half of 2010 with foreign exchange and over-the-counter derivatives.

“Standard Life Investments has been a Charles River client for seven years and joins over 40 clients across EMEA who use version 8.2,” said Jon Steward, managing director, EMEA, Charles River. “The majority of these clients chose version 8.2 for its advanced fixed income and derivatives capabilities. The real-time market data integration means managers can automatically process these products without experiencing latency.”

Standard Life Investments had £121.6 billion in assets under management as at 30 June 2009 and operates in the UK, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong and the US.

The Charles River IMS, a multi-asset-class front- and middle-office software suite, offers portfolio management and modeling; real-time pre-trade, post-execution, and end-of-day compliance; order management and post-trade functions. The system incorporates global real-time electronic trading via FIX

through the Charles River Network, a broker-neutral financial network.
