Investment research and trading house State Street Global Markets (SSGM) has confirmed the appointment of buy-side veteran Daemon Bear.
Bear joined SSGM at the end of last year as head of agency execution within the firm's portfolio solutions group.
He offers a wealth of buy-side experience, having worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management for 10 years, including a stint as head of equity trading.
Bear's new role at SSGM comes only months after he was appointed head of execution services at London-based brokerage Olivetree, where he was tasked with growing the firm's technology solutions business.
Prior to joining Olivetree, Bear was head of BlockCross, a European dark pool that formed part of interdealer broker ICAP's ill-fated foray into cash equities trading. BlockCross was closed in September last year, while ICAP closed its cash equities business in March 2010.
