Thailand Futures Exchange introduces new options trading programme

Thailand Futures Exchange has introduced ‘Options Wizard’, a new internet-based trading program which will support investors' decision-making, and enable new investors to trade SET50 Options.

Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), a part of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, has introduced ‘Options Wizard’, a new internet-based trading program which will support investors’ decision-making, and enable new investors to trade SET50 Options.

TFEX has also announced five new market makers to manage liquidity for SET50 options,, KGI Securities (Thailand), Ausiris Futures, Phatra Securities, Trinity Securities, and Maybank Kim Eng Securities.  

TFEX managing director Rinjai Chakornpipat said that TFEX plans to enhance  the liquidity of existing products, starting with SET50 Options . TFEX has adjusted the contract specifications of SET50 Options in order to better accommodate investors convenience by reducing the number of contracts and aligning with SET50 Futures.

In 2014 the total trading of SET50 Options reached 108,855 contracts, or 444 contracts per day, an increase of 6% from a year earlier. As, the trading volume of SET50 options accounts for 0.3 percent of the total TFEX’s volume, TFEX hopes that the initiatives of increasing the number of market makers, developing tools such as Options Wizard and improving investor knowledge, will ultimately increase the popularity of SET50 options.
