Interdealer broker Tullett Prebon is set for a change at the top after naming Nomura’s former European head, John Phizackerley, as its CEO.

Phizackerley will take the reins from departing chief Terry Smith who will step down from the role on 31 August 2014.

He joins from his most recent role as chief executive officer EMEA at Nomura, a position he held from May 2011 to May 2013.

Phizackerley spent the bulk of his career at Lehman Brothers in roles including head of research, co-head of equities and chief administrative officer EMEA.

He worked there for 20 years until 2008.

Phizackerley began his career as an underground mining engineer with Anglo American Corporation of South Africa.

Rupert Robson, chairman of Tullett Prebon, welcomes the new chief executive, saying, “He has a distinguished track record in the investment banking industry and wide international experience.

“His deep understanding of our customers’ needs and his regulatory expertise will be invaluable in taking Tullett Prebon forward in these changing times to the next stage in its development.”
