UBS has appointed an ex-J.P. Morgan quant head to its client trading and execution team in the US, according to an internal memo seen by theTRADEnews.com.

Robert Kissell, who was previously head of quantitative trading strategies at J.P. Morgan, joins UBS in New York as an executive director, reporting to Owain Self, head of algorithmic trading for EMEA and the Americas and Timothy Gee, head of program trading, Americas.

Kissell will be responsible for analytics product initiatives within Direct Execution – UBS’s electronic trading business – and portfolio trading. His role will include working closely with both teams to develop a quantitative services suite and value-added advisory covering pre- and post-trade transaction cost analysis, investment analysis and portfolio construction, risk modeling and market microstructure analysis. Kissell will also advise clients on execution strategies.

As well as J.P. Morgan, Kissell has worked at Citigroup/Smith Barney and Instinet and has published numerous research papers and articles.
