Lawrence Tanzman has joined Optiver as a quantitative trader after a 14-year stint at Citadel Securities.
Tanzman will be based out of Chicago in his new role at the electronic market maker.
Most recently, he served as a trader at Citadel Securities, working across market making and equity options.
He began his industry career at Allstate Insurance, in a role covering fixed income research.
Optiver declined to comment when contacted by The TRADE.
Tanzman’s appointment is the latest in a recent spate of hires for Optiver over the last few months.
In December, the firm confirmed three new senior appointments in its institutional sales team, with Oliver Chapman joining the UK cash equity sales team, having most recently served as director in electronic equity sales at Barclays, while Ian Schneider joined the firm, focused on relationships with US counterparties.
Additionally, Pierre Antoine Jaunâtre is a new addition to Optiver’s team in Amsterdam, set to drive ETF sales across France and Iberia.
Elsewhere, in April 2025, Optiver announced that it was moving to convert to a systematic internaliser (SI), as revealed by The TRADE at the time.
Through the move, Optiver’s trades are now reported as part of the SI bucket.
