The institutional liquidity platform Appital has appointed Citadel Securities as a liquidity provider, integrating the market maker’s pricing and execution capabilities directly into its platform.
The key benefits of the integration include on-platform liquidity spanning large-in-scale through to multiple days’ volume, executed electronically and confidentially, within a platform that remains exclusively focused on institutional asset managers.
For buy-side traders, the integration will extend the range of what’s executable electronically, giving continuous access to institutional liquidity.
Marko Taric, head of EMEA semi-systematic equities at Citadel Securities, said: “Appital is giving buy-side firms more choice in how they source and access institutional liquidity at scale, and helping them execute with greater flexibility and confidence.
“We are pleased to bring Citadel Securities’ market making and execution capabilities to the platform, expanding the ways institutional investors can access deep, reliable liquidity.”
The feature sits alongside Appital’s existing natural buy-side liquidity network.
The integration is aimed at removing the traditional hurdle of waiting for organic network density to build before deriving value from the platform, so that orders can surface, and add to potential liquidity, as soon as a firm joins.
Speaking to The TRADE, Mark Badyra, CEO of Appital added: “The last twenty years transformed institutional trading through electronic execution, automation and data. We believe the combination of natural buy-side liquidity and continuous price discovery is the next major step in that evolution.
“Institutional investors can now continuously evaluate executable opportunities electronically that historically required a series of high-touch interactions. We believe this fundamentally changes how liquidity is discovered, understood and accessed.”
The capability is being rolled out to Appital’s institutional client network on a controlled basis, ahead of wider market availability.
