SIX unveils new marketplace to widen access to European exchange data

SIX Market Signal is aimed at broadening access to market data across institutional and retail users.

SIX Swiss Exchange has unveiled a new API-based data marketplace which publishes real-time and historical data.

The API-based offering is designed to expand access to exchange data across a wider range of users and functions, while serving as an alternative for businesses that can benefit from real-time price streaming.

At the centre of SIX Market Signal is the real-time consolidated 1BBO (best bid/offer) market data stream, set to provide real-time coverage of cash equity securities.

The feed will display best bid and ask prices using order book data from SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange in Switzerland and Spain, alongside the 16 European markets covered by Aquis Exchange.

Santiago Ximenez, head of data & connectivity, exchanges, at SIX, said: “With Market Signal, SIX is removing the barriers when accessing high-quality exchange data across European capital markets.

“By leveraging our European footprint, we enable a broader set of market participants to gain timely, reliable price insights that support informed decisions.”

The feed will be complemented by historical and intraday data products, with SIX planning to add further datasets to the Market Signal marketplace over time.

The platform is intended to extend market data access beyond execution desks to functions including wealth management, benchmarking and compliance.

Users of Market Signal will also be licensed to use the data to train trading models and AI agents, allowing retail investors, fintechs, banks, brokers and other market participants to incorporate the data into AI and quantitative workflows.

The service runs on viaNexus technology, supporting real-time data distribution, entitlement management, cloud API delivery, and integration into AI and quantitative workflows.
