Quod Financial launches AI workflow tool for trading desks

The move is set to support firms using AI to build their own trading tools, while keeping every order decision within a deterministic, auditable core.

Quod Financial has launched Qanvas, a front-end and workflow framework that allows trading desks to request new features in plain language.

Qanvas runs on top of Quod’s order management system (OMS), execution management system (EMS) and smart order router (SOR).

Specifically, it’s designed to cut the time it takes to deliver new trading workflows, with one feature taking four hours and 33 minutes from request to merged code.

Under the launch, AI is used only to build the front end, with order handling unchanged.

Medan Gabbay, chief executive of Quod Financial, said: “For twenty years, trading desks have been told to choose between speed and quality, and to wait for the next release […] When a desk knows it can have what it needs by next week, it stops asking for small fixes and starts redesigning how it trades.

“We are not an AI company. We are a trading technology company with more than two decades of execution know-how, and that cannot be prompted into existence. What AI changes is the pipeline that turns a sentence into tested software. Qanvas puts that pipeline in front of the desk, on top of a core that behaves exactly the same way every time an order is sent.“

Qanvas is designed to cover equities, FX, listed derivatives and digital assets on a single desk.

It joins a growing number of AI tools being introduced to trading desks.
