The global head of quantitative research at Barclays is set to join Schroders as the UK asset manager looks to bolster its systematic investments team.
Antonia Lim, who has been with Barclays for the past seven years, has been appointed head of quantamental investments at Schroders, reporting to Ashley Lester, head of Schroders Systematic Investments (SSI).
Quantamental investing, a relatively new trend on the buy-side, combines quantitative and fundamental investing strategies. The newly-created role at Schroders will see Lim working with the asset manager’s equities and SSI divisions to deliver quantamental investing strategies to clients.
“Antonia has an exceptional background and skills which she will use to combine the best of human expertise and fundamental analysis with quantitative investment techniques,” said Lester. “We are confident that Antonia’s arrival will enable Schroders to bring unique insights to investors, leveraging its world-class investment insight across its equity investment desks with its market-leading Systematic Investment strategies.”
Prior to her time at Barclays, Lim was the head of quantitative research at Kleinwort Benson. She was also formerly a senior quantitative analyst at Dresdner Bank.
“Helping clients build and protect their financial security for the future is my ultimate objective and my focus at Schroders will be on bringing the best of its quantitative and fundamental equity investing capabilities together to enable this,” Lim commented on her appointment.
The SSI division, which manages $9 billion across various strategies mainly for institutional clients such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies, is part of Schroders’ newly-formed product, solutions and quant division.
Earlier this month, Schroders hired Lombard Odier’s global head of solutions to oversee its investment teams. Carolina Minio-Paluello was appointed global head of product, solutions and quant, responsible for the QEP and systematic investment teams.
