Two London-based agency brokerages, Execution and ITG Europe, have tapped staff from investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort to boost their sales trading teams.

James Goldstone, previously a director in a team focused on UK institutions and hedge funds at Dresdner Kleinwort, has joined Execution as a senior sales person. He previously held positions in equity sales at HSBC, Lazards and Credit Lyonnais. Goldstone will report to Dipesh Patel, head of European equity sales at Execution.

In addition, Execution has hired Iain Whiteley, previously head of UK sales at Dresdner Kleinwort, as a senior sales person. Whiteley previously held positions at Robert Fleming Securities, latterly as a director and head of UK sales, and at J.P. Morgan.

Meanwhile, ITG has appointed Robert Blyth Currie as its European head of sales trading, focusing on single stock trading.

Blyth Currie was at Dresdner Kleinwort from 1998, most recently as director of pan-European equity sales trading. In his new role he will report to ITG’s European CEO David Stevens.

“Demand for agency execution has never been greater and our offering of intelligent execution tools and outstanding client service makes this a very exciting time for ITG, said Stevens. “Robert brings with him 20 years experience and some excellent contacts – I welcome him to ITG.”

Following Dresdner Bank’s merger with fellow German banking group Commerzbank on 11 May, a number of ex-Dresdner Kleinwort executives have resurfaced at rival firms. For example, Execution hired Ben Johnson, a former portfolio trader at Dresdner Kleinwort, to its Alternative Execution electronic and portfolio trading unit on 18 May.
