Vladimir Samokhvalov joins BCS Global Markets as head of the foreign exchange (FX) division after over ten years Alfa Bank.

Russian brokerage BCS Global Markets has appointed the former deputy head of foreign exchange at Alfa Bank, Vladimir Samokhvalov, to head up its foreign exchange division.

Samokhvalov joins BCS Global Markets as head of the foreign exchange division from Alfa Bank where he served as deputy head of the foreign exchange department for over 10 years.

In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the FX domestic and international product strategy, creating a model of FX sales for corporate and institutional clients, and developing an FX platform for use across all investment banking solutions at BCS.

“Developing a competitive product line-up, a comprehensive customer coverage model, and an effective banking platform are key priorities of BCS GM’s development,” said Maxim Safonov, co-chief executive at BCS Global Markets, who Samokhvalov will report directly to.

“We have no doubt that Vladimir’s impressive experience and sector knowledge will help BCS GM build a cutting-edge FX platform, which will take our FX operations and suite of products to new heights.”

Samokhvalov’s appointment comes during a period of continuous expansion at BCS across all its product offerings.

In the last 12 months, the Russian brokerage has cherry picked several senior individuals from some of the market’s largest institutions including HSBC, Citi, and Sova Capital, to drive growth across its investment banking, global equities, prime services, and fixed income departments.

Most recently in December, the firm appointed a former senior credit analyst at investment research firm Tellimer as its new deputy head of fixed income research.
