Barclays appoints Emmanuel Cau as head of European equity strategy

Cau to join Barclays after 13-year stint with US bank JP Morgan as global equity strategist.

Barclays has appointed JP Morgan’s Emmanuel Cau as its new head of European equity strategy.

Having spent 13 years with JP Morgan as a global equity strategist, Cau will be based in London and report to Rupert Jones, head of European equity research at Barclays, who joined the bank in July last year.

“Emmanuel’s appointment is hugely important as we further strengthen our European equity research business. This hire underlines the positive reinvestment in our equities business and our commitments to enhancing our client offering and continuing to build a world class equity research department,” said Jones.

Cau’s appointment follows other recent equity hires by Barclays, including Naseer Al-Khudairi in February this year as global head of electronic equities and head of cash equities for EMEA, and Stephen Dainton as global head of equities in September last year.
