BlackRock compliance head appointed risk chief at Janus Henderson

Georgina Fogo will join Janus Henderson as chief risk officer in July this year following the retirement of David Kowalski.

Janus Henderson has named BlackRock’s global head of compliance as the firm’s new chief risk officer, who will join the asset manager in July.

Georgina Fogo will be responsible for the oversight and development of Janus Henderson’s risk and compliance functions globally, based in the London headquarters.

Fogo has more than 15 years’ experience on the buy-side and in compliance. Prior to her role as BlackRock’s global compliance head, she headed up compliance for Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA) at the organisation.

She joined BlackRock following its merger with Barclays Global Investors in December 2009 and led the compliance advisory teams in the EMEA and the US.

“[Fogo] brings strong risk management credentials and an impressive track record in building and overseeing global risk and compliance platforms,” said co-CEOs at Janus Henderson, Dick Weil and Andrew Formica.

“With the regulatory landscape for asset managers and clients becoming increasingly complex, her experience will be invaluable in ensuring Janus Henderson remains at the forefront of the change agenda and risk management best practice.”

Janus Henderson added Fogo’s appointment follows the retirement of David Kowalski as chief risk officer last year.
