Chinese commercial banks Evergrowing Bank and China Minsheng Banking Corporation (CMBC) have deployed new trading floors in their respective Shanghai offices, using trading infrastructure and services provided by technology supplier Orange Business Services – Trading Solutions.

“It's a novelty that a bank requires this level of expansion – a situation unique to a high-growth emerging market,” said James Daniels, managing director, Greater China, Orange Business Services – Trading Solutions. “Market pressure from the rest of the world shows them that there is a lot of money to be made in investment banking, which is a new area in China.”

Trading Solutions developed the trading floor layout and design, sourced all technology and resources, and managed the projects from start to finish. Both banks required Trading Solutions to provide the original interior design, dealing platforms, voice recording systems, power and data cabling along with all necessary furniture.

The firm also installed multi-screen trading systems, wireless headsets, keyboard, video and monitor systems, replacing the analogue phone-based trading that was in use previously. The CMBC trading room is now equipped for 50 traders whilst Evergrowing Bank has capacity for 45.
