Citi appoints head of global rates algo trading, a newly created role

Incoming individual returns to Citi following a six and a half year stint at JP Morgan.

Jamie Mortimore is set to re-join Citi to lead the newly formed global rates algo trading team, according to an internal memo seen by The TRADE.

New York-based Mortimore previously spent six and a half years at JP Morgan, most recently as a managing director and head of the global rates automated trading team.

Mortimore previously worked for Citi for almost 15 years (before departing in 2016), during which time he worked on building out the first iteration of the rates algo trading offering both in North America and EMEA.

He will be focused on growing the global rates algo trading team in this new position and be responsible for the research, development and execution of the rates algorithmic trading strategies.

The internal communication was jointly signed off by co-heads of global rates Deirdre Dunn and Pedro Goldbaum.

According to the memo, the move comes as clients increasingly trade electronically, asserting: “We are positioning the business for continued future success […] Bringing the global team together will increase coordination and allow us to better leverage best-in-class technology and strategies.”
