US brokerage Concept Capital has expanded its institutional sales and trading team in the mid-west region of the country.

The firm has hired a five-member institutional sales team from Jesup & Lamont, a Chicago-based full-service brokerage and investment banking firm, to broaden its institutional sales and trading business in equities. The new hires are the latest in a series of senior appointments Concept Capital has made in the last six months.

Concept has appointed James Taich as managing director and head of the Chicago equity sales team, which also includes senior vice president Delores Gress and vice presidents John Ognar, Brian Moore and Carla Davi. The firm’s institutional sales team now has more than 110 years’ combined experience covering mid-west institutional clients at both bulge-bracket and independent brokerage firms and across equities and fixed income.

In March, Concept named Rich Parker as its head of equities when the firm hired Washington policy analysts Washington Research Group. Robert E. Moore, formerly of Citigroup, was hired in January as managing director and head of Concept’s global institutional trading and research business.

The firm plans to make additional strategic hires in its Chicago and New York area offices as client demand for coverage grows, and expects to make additional appointments to cover key institutional markets.
