Thomson Financial, a provider of financial information and technology solutions, has announced that Daiwa Securities SMBC will implement Thomson ONE Investment Banking, a business solution for investment bankers.

After evaluating a number of different solutions, Daiwa chose Thomson ONE Investment Banking because it offered the most comprehensive support for its investment banking workflow. Prime considerations were the commitment that Thomson Financial has made to the Japanese market, notably through the release of its Japanese language desktop solution Thomson ONE Japan; its record of solution implementations worldwide; and its global content.

“In the past, we have performed multifarious analyses in the course of an investment banking project, but the entire process, through to the reporting phase, required a tremendous amount of time,” says Teruaki Ueda, managing director of Daiwa Securities SMBC, head of investment banking. “In order to maintain top competitiveness in the global investment banking market, it is extremely important to systematise this processing cycle, improve the quality of the entire organisational structure and make it more efficient.” He feels that introducing Thomson ONE, with its standardised workflow and full range of consulting features, will allow Daiwa’s staff to achieve their goals more quickly.

"Thomson ONE Investment Banking was designed by bankers to meet the needs of the corporate finance community,” says Takashi Satoh, sales director, Thomson Financial Japan. “It is the only integrated solution that provides all the necessary financial content configured to embrace the entire work flow of the investment banker.”

Following this installation, Daiwa Securities SMBC is considering step-by-step implementation of Thomson ONE across its global operations.

Thomson ONE Investment Banking provides the information required for investment banking activities including data on market conditions, corporate and financial information, earnings forecasts, shareholders’ information, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets. It also includes a variety of tools for analysing that information.
