GETCO snaps up Instinet executive in Asia

GETCO, the Chicago-based electronic trading and market making firm, has appointed a former Instinet executive to lead its business development activities in Asia.

John Fildes, previously chief operating officer for agency broker and technology provider Instinet in Asia, will take the position of director of strategic development at GETCO, the firm has confirmed. Fildes will be based in Singapore and report to GETCO’s Asia managing director, Rob Smith.

His responsibilities at GETCO will include developing new business opportunities as well as managing the firm’s relationship with exchanges, regulators and brokers in the Asia-Pacific region.

Fildes, who previously spent ten years at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, is also co-chair of the Asia Pacific Committee of FIX Protocol Limited.
