Charles River Development - The Charles River Investment Management Solution

Charles River Investment Management Solution (IMS) combines order management system and EMS capabilities in a single trading blotter, simplifying operations and lowering total cost of ownership. The system provides full and configurable EMS capabilities, including algorithmic trading, real-time market data, execution analytics; integration with pre- and post-trade transaction cost analysis services, program trading, direct market access and automated order routing.

Sourcing options

Sourcing options include licensed, managed off-premise and hosted solutions by Charles River over its software-as-a-service platform.

Counterparty connectivity

Charles River has integration with more than 150 third-party trading and liquidity platforms and the broker-neutral Charles River Network includes more than 500 FIX network brokers and 6,000 live FIX network connections. The Charles River brokerage subsidiary offers CReX, an anonymous buy-side-to-buy-side dark pool integrated with Charles River IMS for equity block trades.

Charles River works with algo providers to develop all functionality in their most up-to-date algorithmic offerings. Development and testing varies with the complexity of the broker product. Charles River will provide updated offerings for clients to install, or install it for hosted clients.

Asset classes

The system has multi-asset class support across equities, fixed income, FX, futures, options and OTC derivatives.

Pre- and post-trade analytics

An analytics blotter is shipped as part of the packaged products, offering all the key fundamental analytics. Traders and portfolio managers can track trade performance through the entire life cycle and integration for third-party providers is also available.

Future plans

Planned major enhancements include further improved fixed income portfolio management, execution management, performance measurement and attribution, risk and position keeping as part of an ongoing system improvements.
