HKEx names new Hong Kong clearing head

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited has named Calvin Tai to head  the group's clearing operations in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has named Calvin Tai as head of global clearing (Asia), responsible for the group’s clearing operations in Hong Kong. He has been promoted from his existing position as co-head of the equities and fixed income/currency business.

In his new capacity, Tai also takes over from Gerald Greiner at the helm of Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Ltd and OTC Clearing Hong Kong Ltd.

Gerald Greiner has been given the job of advisory chairman for group clearing and regulatory affairs. He has also been given the job of chief compliance officer, in which he will report to the chief regulatory officer, David Graham.

Trevor Spanner, the CEO of HKEx’s subsidiary LME Clear Ltd, has been named head of clearing in Europe and will be responsible for all clearing operations in the UK.

All three men will report to HKEx’s CEO Charles Li.
