Interactive Brokers rolls out autonomous AI trading

Eligible clients can now authorise connected AI platforms to submit orders across more than 75,000 listed stocks, options and ETFs without approving each trade.

Interactive Brokers has launched IBKR Autonomous Trading, a new offering that allows eligible clients to authorise connected AI platforms to identify trades and place orders on their behalf.

The capability covers more than 75,000 listed stocks, options and ETFs globally.

Milan Galik, chief executive of Interactive Brokers, said: “For decades, Interactive Brokers has used automation to give investors greater access, efficiency and control.

“IBKR Autonomous Trading builds on that approach, allowing clients to define their trading strategies and safeguards while connected AI monitors markets and executes trades within those parameters.”

Trading takes place within a dedicated AI partition, which clients fund by transferring cash from their main IBKR account rather than opening a new account.

Clients set their instructions in natural language, after which the AI monitors markets and places supported orders that meet their criteria without needing approval for each trade.

Specifically, the new capability is designed for investors seeking greater scale, speed and discipline in executing their trading strategies.

The launch extends Interactive Brokers’ existing AI integration tool, which links client accounts to AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Perplexity via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Interactive Brokers also offers natural-language stock screening, thematic search and a connections tool mapping related companies, ETFs, derivatives and event contracts.

The launch adds to a wider push to embed agentic AI in trading workflows, with Bloomberg introducing ASKB in February, a conversational AI interface for the Terminal that uses a network of AI agents to retrieve and analyse data, news and research.
