In January equity turnover on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 137.34 billion, which represents a year on year increase of 39.6%. During the month the number of transactions came in at 2.68 million, up 50.3% on last year. Both figures were the highest in the history of the stock market.
Trading on the Latibex market, the market in euros for Latin American companies, was € 63.7 million. The number of trades increased by 2.4% on the year.
The value of trading on the ETF segment in January was € 260 million and the number of trades increased by 64% on the previous month.
The return on the IBEX 35 index in January was 2.87 % and that on the IBEX 35 with dividends was 3.40%. The monthly return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP was 7.70% and 8.07% respectively. The monthly return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index in January was 2.73%.
Trading volumes in January 2007 on the warrants and certificates market came in at € 351 million, which represents a 48.8% increase over the same month in 2006. The number of trades reached 60,860, 47.3% up on the same month last year. Both figures represent monthly record highs for this market.
Futures and Options trading through MEFF in January 2007 came in at 2.36 million contracts. Volume in IBEX 35 Futures, at 628,656 contracts, was 35% up on last year and Mini IBEX Futures, at 185,624 contracts, 85% up on the year and a record high.
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in January reached €102.55 billion, which represents a record high on the Spanish Corporate Debt Market and a 32.2 % increase compared to the same month last year.
New issues in January came in at a record € 58.76 billion, 63.7% up on the same month in 2006.
The outstanding balance at the end of January was € 602.05 billion, recording an increase of 34.7% on the same period in 2006.
Trading volume on the public debt platform SENAF, in January was € 12.25 billion, a 6.5 % increase on the previous month and it represents a 72.5% share of the volume traded on all Spanish electronic platforms.
