Buy-side trading network Liquidnet has appointed Brennan Warble as head of US sales as the firm expands its high-touch, program trading and algo services.

Brennan joins from Citigroup where he was head of Americas execution sales and has previously worked for Citadel Securities and Merrill Lynch. His sell-side execution experience will be leveraged as Liquidnet expands from its core business of aiding institutional investors to match block trades.

In particular, Brennan will work with Lugene Forte, Liquidnet’s head of US equities, to build its global high-touch and program trading desks and the firm’s Algo Services Groups in the US and Europe. Brennan will also sit on the global leadership team.

“There is now a significant opportunity to further maximise the way our members interact with our deep pool of liquidity and take advantage of the value-added solutions that have been developed to solve some of their biggest problems,” said Liquidnet COO John Kelly, to whom Brennan will report.

“Brennan brings valuable experience working directly with the buy-side including strong industry relationships and a successful track record in managing sales operations,” Kelly added.

Brennan officially joined the firm on Monday 5 August, and has 25 years experience in the institutional equities business.
