Merrill Lynch director takes up FIX Protocol position

FIX Protocol Limited (FPL), the messaging standards organisation, has elected Chris Jackson, director of equity markets at Merrill Lynch, as co-chair of the FPL EMEA regional committee.

FIX Protocol Limited (FPL), the messaging standards organisation, has elected Chris Jackson, director of equity markets at Merrill Lynch, as co-chair of the FPL EMEA regional committee.

He will work alongside fellow co-chair Daemon Bear, head of equity trading at JPMorgan Asset Management, who was appointed in June. Jackson takes over from Alaisdair Haynes, CEO of agency broker ITG, who will remain an active participant in the FPL EMEA regional committee.

Jackson has 15 years of experience in he global electronic trading environment. While at Merrill Lynch, he held positions including portfolio sale’s trading, fixed market, smart order routing and transactions. To date, he has also played an active role in the strategic and operational decision-making of the FPL EMEA governance board.

Over the past decade, advancements in trading technology have delivered significant benefits for the underlying investor in the form of greater efficiencies, transparency, cost savings and more streamlined business practices,” said Jackson in a statement. “By developing and maintaining an industry-wide open standard for the transfer of electronic market information.”
