Morgan Stanley’s chief information officer in Asia, managing director and veteran has been selected to lead the investment bank’s new cross-business technology strategy.
Simon Holden has been appointed head of a cross divisional programs group within the institutional securities segment at Morgan Stanley.
He will lead a newly-established technology team and introduce the new global function to drive the firm’s large and complex change programs in technology.
Holden moved to Hong Kong as senior technologist and chief information officer for Asia at Morgan Stanley in May 2016, after serving in various technology roles with the bank for 18 years.
Between 2006 and 2011, he was global head of equity of risk technology, before taking up the role of global head of cross asset class risk programs. He also worked as a program manager for Pioneer, Morgan Stanley’s multi-year front to back technology transformation project.
Holden will be moving back to London for his new role after spending two years in Hong Kong, he said via a LinkedIn post.
“I have had an amazing two years in Asia, and have learned so much from so many people. It’s been a privilege to lead our technology organisation in Asia and I know it will go from strength to strength,” Holden added.
