Nasdaq OMX Europe, the pan-European multilateral trading facility (MTF) owned by exchange group Nasdaq OMX, will start trading Irish stocks in early 2010.

From 22 January, members of the MTF will be able to trade all constituents of the Irish ISEQ index. Clearing services will be provided by European Multilateral Clearing Facility, which clears trades for Nasdaq OMX Europe in the other markets it operates in.

Fellow MTF BATS Europe will also start trading Irish stocks on the same day. Currently, Turquoise and NYSE Arca Europe are the only alternative venues on which to trade Irish securities. In November, the total amount of trading of ISEQ trading was just over €2.3 billion according to data vendor Thomson Reuters.
