Alternate venue Chi-X Australia has hired Jamie Crank as head of market operations, while in Hong Kong, block trading facility Liquidnet has snared Eddie To as head of legal and compliance, Asia Pacific.

Crank joins Chi-X Australia from the London Stock Exchange, where he was most recently head of commercial management for the UK exchange group's equity and derivatives markets.

“As we head into our second year of operations, we look forward to leveraging Jamie’s experience to deepen our customer relationships and position Chi-X for further growth,” said Peter Fowler, outgoing CEO of Chi-X Australia.

Crank said he was looking forward to demonstrating the importance and benefits of competition in the Australian markets. Chi-X Australia launched on 31 October and reached a daily market share peak of 12.4% at the end of November, according to the trading venue's own data.

Meantime, Liquidnet’s new hire, To, will be responsible for leading all internal and external regulatory and compliance aspects of the block crossing platform’s business in Asia. Based in Hong Kong, To will report directly to Lee Porter, head of Asia Pacific.

“Eddie will play a pivotal role in supporting the company and handling the complex legal and compliance issues as we continue our on-going growth across the region,” commented Porter. “This appointment is part of our continued focus on bringing asset managers more liquidity and more trading opportunities to realise better performance in fast growing markets.”
