NYSE Technologies, the commercial technology unit of exchange group NYSE Euronext, has teamed up with latency management firm Corvil to develop an online resource for monitoring data latency performance.

The website, LatencyStats.com, will be a free online tool used by publishers of market data to compare latency performance on a like-for-like basis, as verified by Corvil. The service will use real-time snapshots of key performance statistics and a standard methodology for collecting and calculating the statistics. The site will also have exclusive content and research from NYSE Euronext and Corvil.

The service will launch with US high-frequency data feeds of NYSE ArcaBook and NYSE OpenBook. NYSE’s US and European markets and a range of feeds offered on NYSE Technologies SuperFeed platform will follow soon after.

“Market participants need access to detailed latency and performance statistics of market data to assure predictability in their trading strategies,” said Donal Byrne, CEO, Corvil.

“This is the first time a leading securities exchange has offered this level of latency transparency and information quality for its market data services.”

“Together, NYSE Technologies and Corvil sought to create a truly innovative online resource that clearly and transparently defines how latency performance is measured across markets and products,” added Mark Schaedel, senior vice president, global data products, NYSE Technologies. “We believe that transparency enhances our customers’ ability to better understand performance behaviors and monitor our progress in our endless efforts to improve our speed.”
