The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has introduced NYSE American options extended trading hours (ETH), giving market

participants additional access to options listed on NYSE American.
The new early trading session will operate from 7:30am to 9:25am ET, whilethe new late trading session runs from 4pm to 4:15pm ET.
Kevin Tyrrell, chief product officer at NYSE, said: “Markets have changed tremendously over the years, and that kind of progress only happens when you keep investing in your technology.
“Extended trading hours for options reflects market demand for investment opportunities and reliable risk management during a longer period of time, and as we look ahead to bringing the same approach to equities in December, we’ll continue to treat innovation as the foundation for growth.”
The initial group of eligible symbols includes options on exchange-traded funds (ETFs), such as SPY, IWM and GLD.
Options on large-cap technology names are also eligible, including Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Alphabet, Amazon and Oracle.
Specifically, the launch forms part of NYSE’s wider push to extend trading hours across its markets.
NYSE first proposed expanding weekday trading on NYSE Arca to 22 hours a day in October 2024.
In January, NYSE also said it was seeking regulatory approval for a platform supporting 24/7 trading of US-listed equities and ETFs, with on-chain settlement.
An uptick in moves to extended trading models has also been noted elsewhere. On 19 October Cboe extended its trading hours for select single-stock and ETF options on its Cboe Options Exchange..
The exchange also uses the same 7:30am to 9:25am ET and 4pm to 4:15pm ET windows.
