People Moves Monday: Trading heads

The past week saw appointments from Northern Trust, Tradeweb and MarketAxess.

Northern Trust appointed Daniel Gamba as the new president of its asset management division. He joins the asset manager after over two decades with BlackRock, most recently as its co-head of fundamental equities. Prior to that, he served as global head of active equity product strategy and head of Americas institutional iShares business and co-head of iShares US. At Northern Trust, Gamba will report to chief executive officer Michael O-Grady.

Tradeweb promoted one of its longstanding employees, Bhas Nalabothula, to become its new head of US institutional rates. Nalabothula has been with Tradeweb for almost a decade, joining in 2013 as a director in US rates product strategy and since holding roles such as head of European interest rate derivatives, head of European institutional rates and his most recent role as global head of emerging markets. Prior to joining Tradeweb, Nalabothula spent over five years at Citi in various interest rate and equity sales and trading focused roles.  

Electronic trading platform for fixed income securities, MarketAxess, appointed Pierce Lord as head of data product, a newly created role for the business. Lord joined the firm from ICE, where he spent the last three years. Before that, Lord spent nearly a decade at Bloomberg in a variety of senior positions. As head of data product, Lord will oversee MarketAxess’ global data business and products as it continues to develop and service its global client base. He will be based in New York.
